Introducing SENNEBOGEN’s 728 Tree Care Handler!

Written by Team Sennebogen | Mar 8, 2021 4:15:19 PM

When SENNEBOGEN introduced our 718 purpose-built tree care handler, it made a huge impact in the arboriculture industry.

The Birth of the 738 and 728

This machine achieved production rates up to 10 times greater than traditional methods, while dramatically increasing safety for operators and ground crew.

Then, we decided to go bigger, and we introduced the 738.

The 738 was fitted with the same type of equipment as the 718, but it was sized to reach farther and handle larger trees. It also had a more powerful engine.

This machine allowed crews to take on larger projects and tackle heavier forested areas, cutting 100 to 150 trees per day with no additional crew on site.

Now, we’re meeting in the middle.

We took the mobility of the 718 and combined it with the reach of the 738 to create the new game-changer in the tree care industry

Meet the 728.

What Are the Highlights of the 728?

The 728 mixes the best features of the 718 and 738 with its extended reach, lifting capacity, optimal mobility, and powerful engine. Plus, it has all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from SENNEBOGEN’s material handlers.

Extended Reach

If you love the 718, but wish it could extend just a little bit farther, your wish is granted. With our new 728 tree care handler, you can reach up to 65 feet. That’s 22 more feet than the 718’s reach and just 10 feet shy of the 738’s capabilities.

Let’s say you’re out in the field with the 718, but the tree you need to cut down is just out of range. Instead of bringing in an expensive crane and your best workers, you can use the 728 to bridge the gap and do the job more efficiently

While the 738 can reach up to 75 ft., it’s quite an upgrade from the 718. The 728 allows you to have more reach with less machine.

Lifting Capacity

The lifting capacity of the 728 is comparable to the 718. The 728 can lift 12,000 lbs at maximum vertical reach and 3,700 lbs at maximum horizontal reach.

For comparison, the 738 can lift 15,000 lbs at maximum vertical reach and 4,100 lbs. at maximum horizontal reach. However, a big machine such as the 738 is typically not necessary for medium-scale jobs.

Optimal Mobility

The 728 is as mobile as the 718. It weighs 65,000 lbs compared to the 718’s lighter 44,000 lbs and the 738’s whopping 95,000 lbs.

The 728 can be transported with the same type of permit as the 718. It doesn’t require anything special like the 738’s superload permit, which can take longer to obtain and has different restrictions.

Powerful Engine

The 728 has another advantage over the 718 besides reach. It has the same power as the 738 with a 225 HP (168 kW) Cummins 6.7 Tier 4F engine. The 718 has a 160 HP (119 kW) Cummins QSB 4.5 Tier 4F engine.

All the Bells & Whistles

Finally, the 728 has the same great features that come standard with our other material handlers.

All of our tree care handlers have a telescoping boom and stick fitted with a hydraulic grapple saw to grasp, cut, and move limbs or whole trees in a single operation.

The elevating Maxcab operator station allows a clear view of the worksite and directly into the cutting zone for precise pruning, felling, trimming, and stacking. It all happens from inside the enclosed cab with no additional ground crew.

For total versatility, the quick-change adapter allows the grapple saw to be swapped for optional attachments such as mowers and mulchers for embankment and overpass maintenance.

Introducing SENNEBOGEN's 728 Tree Care Handler!

Now you know a little more about SENNEBOGEN’S newest material handler, the 728.

It was purpose-built for the tree care industry by combining the best aspects of the 718 and the 738. Like all of our material-handling equipment, it was designed with one job in mind: to lift, swing, and carry loads from point to point.

The highlights of the 728 include extended reach, lifting capacity, optimal mobility, and a powerful engine. You get all of that on top of the standard features that come with our material handlers.

If you like the 718, wait until you see what the 728 can do.

Every machine we make is backed by the bench strength of factory-trained dealer representatives, application specialists, and a family tradition of working with customers face-to-face.
